Pro-choice doesn’t mean pro-death… despite what pro-lifers think

12 03 2013

On a regular basis, my inbox has numerous e-newsletters from various organizations talking about their stance on pro-life and how pro-choice is murder. As much as they rail on those who aren’t “pro-life” because of their pro-choice stance, i.e. pro-death, to think that any woman would ever choose to get pregnant just to have an abortion is ridiculous. By saying one person is pro-life and the other is?? Let’s just call a spade a spade. Pro-lifers think pro-choice advocates are murderers and that they condone murder, which is bunch of BS.

When I found out a tryst with a friend when I was 21 on his birthday led to pregnancy, I had two choices to make. Abort or become a mother. That decision was not easy. I sat and cried on my bathroom floor for three hours. I didn’t tell my mom about the pregnancy for three months. I kept everything a secret except for the father…. Who later proved to be a degenerate when his oxycotin addiction which led to heroin abuse and consequently in 2010, his body was found discarded on the side of the road in Tijuana. Thankfully i was far away getting an education and then working full time.

While pro-lifers would argue that my son was meant to be, these same people criticize me for not being married, for not having a father for my son, for having to depend on government subsidies to get by when my son was young. They deny the biology of sex and call it a miracle. It isn’t a miracle. IT’S BIOLOGY. No one should be forced to carry a child because of biology. I shouldn’t have to die from cancer (by doing nothing) because of biology. If we want to believe everything is a godsend and we should just let nature take it course… well… it’s a travesty to even think along those lines.

But the real deal is this. There are two sorts of people and two perspectives.

Pro-lifers versus pro-death.

and

Pro-choice versus no-choice.

Pretty easy to figure out my point of view.

While I do not agree with your views on the abortion issue I would like to apologize to those claiming to be pro-life who have criticized you for not being married, depending on the government, etc. Some people are hypocritical and I beg you not to generalize pro-lifers into people who judge you for things that obviously caused you a lot of pain. I don’t want to start a debate/flame war or anything I just want you to know: a true Pro-Lifer loves both the mother and the child, regardless of the situation or choices of the mother. Pro life does not mean anti-choice, the same as you said that pro-choice doesn’t mean anti-life.

You are really something else, Shane. I have never met someone as antagonistic as you. BUT you are wrong. To be pro-abortion would mean that I would want every woman to terminate their pregnancy, which isn’t accurate, just as pro-life means all children should be spared from man-made abortion (though when god expels a child from the womb via miscarriage and it isn’t her choice, that’s ok). Nonsense as usual with you.

Well “choice” does sound SO much better than “abortion”, doesn’t it?

Oddly, most ‘progressives’ love of “choice” extends to little else other than abortion–including legalizing female minors’ right to contraceptives and abortions w/o parental involvement…

You people really are sick and confused!

Millions of abortions occur in countries where it is officially “illegal”. The vast majority of abortions in America are done to terminate pregnancies of self-proclaimed “Christians”. When poverty levels decline, abortion rate follows. Check the GUTTMACHER institute for other numbers.

If you are “pro-life” or “pro-choice”, you should be anti-poverty, right?
But this is actually a healthcare issue, so we should support universal coverage.

Pretty soon, Plan B will be available to all (even teens), and invasive abortions will become a thing of the past. No one will know if they were pregnant or not, and so “pro-life” will mean “anti-war” and “save all species”. THEN I will embrace the label.
