As most of you know who have been following the Stacie Halas — hardcore porn actress turned teacher– case, then you know that her plea to save her job with the Oxnard School District has been shot down by the Commission on Professional Competence, i.e., the commission sided with the district. So now what? Is she going to take it to court? That’s still up in the air.
The hardest part is that I just can’t figure her out. I very seriously doubt I will ever meet her as she goes through all these legal hoops so I am being judgmental based solely on what I have heard and read. But I do think she will go as far as she can to get money. Why? This case has gotten so out of hand, I seriously doubt she will be able to get a job in another school district any time soon. Her only chance is to change her name and somehow alter her appearance so that this won’t happen again, or at least not as easily. She could speak with a new district and talk about her attempts to change her appearance so that she wouldn’t be associated with her porn and the drama in Oxnard. She could be upfront that her past may be an issue for her students. And for all you Halas fans, WE KNOW SHE ISN’T A PEDOPHILE, nor did she have any intentions of becoming one. This is about young male curiosity and the lack of self control of teenage boys and maybe even girls NOT to look at their teacher doing…. well. I am not going to go into the graphic details here, but those videos are not your parents’ Playboy mags. Her videos are — wow! You go girl, but seriously… YOU had to know there could be some ethical concerns that could pose consequences. And then of course she lied to her superiors at the district. Not a good idea….
But my main reasoning about the money, which I do hope I am wrong about, is that if she was willing to get into an industry that could have destroyed her future career she so desperately wanted for $10,000, then it seems only logical that money is her priority and damn the consequences. I hope I am wrong.
In an ideal society her post would not matter. However in today’s , still rather sexually repressed society it does. Her videos are probably free access now and available to all. A teacher not only had to teach, but also had to maintain somewhat of an authority figure, which just got shot out the door. Not her fault, but that’s the reality of society today.
If she wishes to teach again, she’ll have to change her name, looks, location and hope none recognizes her.
In my opinion she did nothing wrong in her youth, but today’s society, especially United States rather Puritanical views in morality will get in the way.
